Bus Terminal Churwalden
The new Churwalden bus terminal is distinguished by its unique, dynamic wooden construction combined with a functional double use: while the outside serves as a modern terminal for regional bus traffic, the interior is used for a Migros supermarket subsidiary.
The characteristics of the bus terminal are vertically positioned wooden lamellas, which curve upwards along the façade and make the architecture look elegant and plastic. A play of light and shadows was the basis for LIGHT ON for this design: The lighting concept sets the building like a lightly floating body, which appears different from every angle. Through the play of the light with the wooden lamellas, the image and dimension of the building are constantly changing while strolling around or driving by.
